Measured by the China Earthquake Networks Center, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 hit Yushu County in Qinghai Province at 7:49 on April 14, Beijing time.

Since its establishment 15 years ago, Simcere Pharma has devoted itself to providing more effective drugs and treatment approaches for clinical use and patients. The disaster shocked the entire staff of Simcere. Upon knowing the news of the earthquake, Simcere Pharma quickly took action, entrusting the General Committee of Jiangsu Province to donate RMB1 million in relief funds and drugs with a total value of RMB2 million to the disaster-hit area -- Yushu County, Qinghai Province, for relief and treatment of injured people. In addition, Simcere also plans to arrange for local children, who have broken heart and are in need of comfort, to visit the Shanghai World Expo after the earthquake-struck area becomes stable.

It is reported that the drugs donated by Simcere include those mainly used to treat infections, brain damage and diarrhea as well as anti-inflammatory analgesics: just the medicines urgently required for treatment of injured people in the disaster area.
